Project Description
Wallyford Primary School is a new build primary on a greenfield site that will form part of a central hub within a newly developed area on the outskirts of the town. The school, which will be one of the largest Primary School’s in Scotland, is required to meet the rising roll of the area as a result of significant residential developments coming on stream.
The project brings together a number of different schools into one location that also incorporates ALS spaces as well as providing a community hub with access to the school library and other facilities.
The project is phased with the initial phase creating a school to accommodate a roll of circa 900 pupils.
Key to the project is the requirement to easily incorporate Phase 2 of the works at a future date without compromising the flow and aesthetic of the school.
Following the completion of Phase 2, the school will be the largest Primary School in Scotland.
Our Role / Scope
Our role in the project was to provide Quantity Surveying services from inception through to completion.
We assisted the Participant in developing an initial affordability cap for the project that would present a suitable challenge to the Supply Chain whilst not compromising the quality of the finished school. This was supported by our extensive knowledge of education projects and the SFT metric.
As the project progressed through Stage 1 and Stage 2 submission we are working collaboratively with the Design Team to ensure that the emerging design remained within the Affordability Cap. During market estimates we ensured the project remained below the Affordability Cap.
During construction we assisted the participant in the recovery of delay costs from the developer who provided the site via an S75 Agreement.
