5 Years of Ronald McDonald House Glasgow!

10th Jun 2020

On this day 5 years ago, the brand new Ronald McDonald House Glasgow opened its doors and has been providing the families of sick children with a safe base right next to the Royal Hospital for Children, ever since.

The facility includes 31 en-suite bedrooms, associated lounges and kitchens, library, boardroom, accessible bathroom, storage facilities, reception area, office and support accommodation, laundry facility, comms room, play area, private gardens, and car park.

Ronald McDonald House has been highly praised by the families using it and even went onto win four industry awards including the Civic Trust Award, Scottish Property Judges Merit Award and GIA Awards in both the Design and Residential categories.

Doig+Smith was delighted to play an important part in the delivery of this new-build project, having been appointed to undertake the roles of Quantity Surveyor, Employer’s Agent and Principal Designer.

In 2018 we teamed up with Ronald McDonald House once again, this time working on alterations to make its offices open-plan, add an extra bedroom and revamp the reception area to become more homely and welcoming to its visitors.

Since we began working with Ronald McDonald House, a strong relationship has blossomed between ourselves and the charity, with our Director Gill Kirkness now serving as a board member and trustee.

Over the years, the Doig+Smith staff have participated in many fundraising activities to support Ronald McDonald House Glasgow, from bake sales and bucket shaking, to sports dinners, sponsored runs, ladies lunches, sports dinners and mobile phone donations.

Everyone at Doig+Smith truly values the connection we have formed with Ronald McDonald House Glasgow. We have great admiration for the charitable work it does and we hope that we will continue this professional and charitable partnership for many years to come.
