This ain’t our first rodeo! Oh wait..actually it is!!
There was no horsin’ around at this year’s D+S away day… We cut straight to the chase on arrival at this year’s destination – Action Glen Activity Centre in Crieff. With London and Aberdeen team members selecting their preferred departure point, and brunch for everyone served in either the east or the (wild wild) west (sorry 🤦🏻♀️) before we all departed for Crieff.
The only info shared in advance was that we were in for a ‘rodeo team event’. The minds were working over time trying to work out what might be involved and which team members might be the most useful given the nature of this year’s activity. Would Paul be able to draw a competition winning sketch again 🤔
In a flip from last year’s event, it was straight down to business with us saddling up (literally) to take on this year’s challenge before any other proceedings.
Lots of blindfolding involved meant lots of giggles and the afternoon was most definitely aimed at enhancing our communication skills as we threw horseshoes, milked cows, herded each other into pens and so forth. Huge congrats to the “Udder Eight” and team captain Ian Jamieson on their victory. 🥇
Not sure if it was clinging on for dear life, or from excessive laughing, but the full team headed to Crieff Hydro for welcome drinks – and a light buffet – also very welcome – followed by presentations from a number of the team on the diverse and exciting range of projects currently on the go, D+S Academy updates – and forthcoming opportunities which left everyone buzzing.
After the well-received business updates, we headed for pre-dinner drinks in the Meikle bar then back to the suite for a delectable 3-course meal, the consistent buzz of chatter and laughter reminding us again that this is indeed a one-of-a-kind team, and a one-of-a-kind company.
We literally had to ‘herd’ the guys into the coaches for the return journey.
It was definitely a yeehaw kind a’ day 🤠
