Proud to Support Mental Health Awareness Week 2021

10th May 2021

Today marks the beginning of Mental Health Awareness Week, the UK’s national drive to raise awareness of mental health.

The campaign, launched by the Mental Health Foundation, is in its 21st year and the theme for 2021 is ‘Nature’. Across the country, people will be celebrating the mental health benefits of being around nature in their local community in a range of digital and creative ways.

Mark Rowland Chief Executive of the Mental Health Foundation explains the reasoning behind the chosen theme: “Since the beginning of the pandemic, millions of us turned to nature to help us get through lockdowns and our research shows that good mental health depends on us being able to connect with nature in some way and its power in both prevention of and recovery from poor mental health.”

At Doig+Smith we are fully supportive of increasing mental health awareness and in keeping with this year’s theme, we are encouraging our employees to ditch the working lunch in favour of getting outdoors and into nature during their lunch break.

Fraser McQuarrie director at Doig+Smith commented “Ensuring the health and well-being of our employees is one of our top priorities and so we are delighted to lend our support to Mental Health Awareness Week 2021. We hope that our staff will take full advantage of their extended lunch breaks and immerse themselves in nature all week long. We look forward to seeing what they have been up to!”
