RICS Conflict Avoidance Pledge Gains Momentum

22nd Jun 2021

Earlier this month the Scottish Government issued a Construction Policy Note declaring its support for the RICS Conflict Avoidance Pledge (CAP) and it will now recommend that all public procurement projects incorporate the process in future contracts.

Leading from the front on Conflict Avoidance, Doig+Smith signed the pledge back in 2019 and ever since, we have been actively involved in the promotion of this movement.

Our Director Ian Jamieson is a proud member of the associated RICS CAP Working Group, having been invited to join by its chairman Len Bunton, thanks to his valued experience and expertise in Construction Law.

Speaking on the recent action from the Scottish Government, Ian commented “This is a significant step forward in the campaign for conflict avoidance. Hopefully we will now see many more companies in Scotland step forward to sign the pledge too, making it an ever more powerful tool in the battle against lengthy and costly disputes.”
